Military Discounts

There is no universal standard of eligibility for an exemption. Since each store sets its own rules for who qualifies for a discount, it can get confusing.

The following are the different groups that are typically eligible:

• Veterans
• Active duty members
• National Guard
• Reservists
• Retirees
• Members of the military family, such as spouses, dependents, and immediate family.

Don’t forget to bring your ID. The following are ways to take advantage of your discount.

Showing a military ID is the easiest way to prove eligibility for an exemption.

VA benefits Photo ID card and DD-214 form: Veterans who are eligible for VA benefits usually carry a certificate. By submitting this, you can prove that you are an officer in stores. One additional record you can use is your DD-214 form certifying your military service.

ID.me — If you hope to get a military discount from an online retailer, you need to register with ID.me. To verify your veteran status, you will need to submit your documents through ID.me. Many retailers offer military discounts for online orders through ID.me.

Dependents on active duty and military retirees may use DD Form 1173 .
